MacroShares are revolutionary new securities that are designed to allow investors to take a long-term position in fundamentally important asset classes and economic benchmarks that affect their lives and world economies.

MacroShares are based upon ideas originally presented by renowned Economist and Yale Professor, Robert Shiller, in his book 1993 book Macro Markets (Oxford University Press) and subsequent patents secured by MacroMarkets LLC, where Shiller is the Chief Economist. MacroShares are intended to enable essential rebalancing - or introduction of significant portfolio exposures. As fully-collateralized exchange-traded securities that deploy a novel and patented structure, MacroShares can:
  • Facilitate investment strategy execution relative to that of conventional instruments (e.g., futures, options, swaps)
  • Enable investment in and hedging of important, but elusive exposures (e.g., long-term oil prices, property prices)
  • Accurately track their reference benchmark and potentially deliver quarterly income while investing in short term U.S. Treasuries and cash.
